Beauty inside out....

We all know how a great face creme will help your skin, but beauty starts by nourishing the inside. You know the old saying "You are what you eat". A good supply of nutrients will help replace the old skin cells and keep your skin looking younger.

Skin naturally ages, and wrinkles and age spots are inevitable. Overexposure to the sun, chemicals, pollution and poor nutrition can speed up the aging process. Treating your skin kindly and a great balanced diet can help slow it down.

A diet high in anti oxidant from fruit and vegetable, healthy fat from nuts and fish and balanced diet that includes Vitamin C and E, zinc and beta carotene are crucial for radiant skin.

Five portions of fruit and vegetables everyday will help with cell renewal and fight off free radicals. Aim for a rainbow of 5 different colours a day. Pumpkin, sweet potato, carrots, kale and spinach are just a few of the ones to choose.

Vitamin C is a super antioxidant. Not just oranges, blueberries, strawberries, kiwi fruit all contain high levels of Vitamin C that help to improve the collagen in the skin cells for firmer younger looking skin.

Vitamin E helps support healthy skin growth. Foods to look for are nuts, avocado, pine nuts and sunflower oils.

Water is one of the most important ingredients to beautiful skin. Just a little dehydration will cause dry, tired slightly grey skin. At least 6 to 8 glasses a day is what your body needs. Fresh water is best but any or add some herbal tea for flavour. Watery fruit like watermelon counts too and it has added nutrients. Avoid excessive alcohol it will eventually age the skin...

Omega-3 fatty acids encourage the body to produce anti-inflammatory compounds, which can help skin, particularly inflammatory skin conditions such as eczema and psoriasis. You'll find it in oily fish and some seeds like chai seeds.

Zinc aids the normal functioning of the sebaceous glands in the skin (which produce oil) and helps to repair skin damage and keep skin soft and supple. Zinc-rich foods include fish, lean red meat, whole grains, poultry, nuts, seeds and shellfish.

So remember a healthy balanced diet with all these ingredients will help you keep your skin looking and feeling great.....
